25th of April Bridge ( The Lisbon Golden Gate Bridge ):
Did you know that, according to the website Best European Destinations, the Lisbon bridges are among the 15 most beautiful in the European continent?
The 25th of April Bridge, also known as “bridge over the Tagus” connects Lisbon to the city of Almada, located on the south of the Tagus river. The work of 2280 meters can be seen from different viewpoints in the historic center of the capital of Portugal.
It is a road and rail bridge, inaugurated in 1966, on the date of its inauguration was the 5th largest suspension bridge in the world. It also presents a great resemblance to the Golden Gate.
The bridge was renamed “April 25” after the Revolution, which took place on 25 April 1974. The date celebrates the peaceful revolution. It took 90 years for the dream of building a bridge over the River Tagus in the Lisbon region, become real. It happened in 1966, celebrating it this year half a century of union between capital and Almada.
“Keep all special thoughts and memories for lifetimes to come. Share these keepsakes with others to inspire hope and build from the past, which can bridge to the future.”
Lisbon Vasco Da Gama Bridge:
It is the longest bridge in Portugal and Europe, also one of the largest worldwide. It has a total length of 17,345 meters, of which about 12,000 are on the Tagus estuary waters. It is also one of the tallest buildings in Portugal, with 155 meters high.
The big curiosity is that the Lisbon Vasco da Gama bridge was built to withstand an earthquake four times greater than the one that ended the city of Lisbon in 1755. And we hope that no earthquake happening in town !!!
When visiting the Park of Nations, you will sight the beautiful Vasco da Gama Bridge, inaugurated on April 4, 1998. His name is a tribute to the 5th centenary of the arrival of Vasco da Gama to India.

The first electrified motoring experience came in 1887 with the introduction of two cars equipped with accumulator batteries, which was abandoned by inconclusive. In 1900 they settled the overhead cables, and has built up a central thermal coal, which provided power for the operation of the network. In 1901 it was inaugurated the first electrical tram career, Cais do Sodre to Algés inside Lisbon.
They are usually yellow, circular rail in the middle of the road, passing through typical Lisbon neighborhoods full of history.
